The Grownup by Gillian Flynn

A short read about a woman who moves from begging to prostitution and then on to fortune telling. Most of her clients are easy targets until she meets Susan. Susan is convinced there is something wrong with her house and her stepson, Miles.

The job should be an easy one; get lots of money for fixing a problem that doesn’t really exist. Throw around some herbal water and the rich lady will be grateful.
Things aren’t as they seem and the reader is taken through some cleverly written twists that combine into a creepy ending. Gillian Flynn packs in loads of detail into a few pages so you can vividly see the main characters and get a good feel for who they are. I didn’t see the end coming and I’ll be thinking about it for a few days to come.
